I was sick, I’m moving house and I was graduating…
So yeah, busy.
Leave me an ask and I’ll do that while I’m working on other posts :D
Another day in the cottage today. We had a bus full of parents from the nursery down to see the grounds and have a BBQ. It was quite nice BUT there was an abundance of midges, if you are not from Scotland a midge is a tiny flying insect that travels in swarms of approximately 150 kabillion at a time, they bite and it makes you itch like a Taiwanese hooker… I feel I’m getting off topic.
The day was nice and the parents enjoyed seeing the grounds and the children all ran about going crazy town which was nice as it proved that the children we take down over the summer will have a ball :).
After the children and their parents had all departed I got another chance to potter around in my kitchen and set some more things up. I can already tell that I’m going to love having my own kitchen. While I was busy with woman’s work in the kitchen Nevin was in the loft space making sacrifices to the gods of DIY and after a few times up and down to spider town he had installed our new aerial and we now have TV in the cottage! Not that we watch much TV now a days but it’s nice to have some background noise if we are working.
Also our neighbours came to see us before we left, by neighbours I mean an actual herd of cows and calves less than 100 paces from my doorstep… life is going to get a wee bit different.
Next step INTERNET! And my office…. eventually :)
You are all yummy :)
I was at the cottage yesterday helping Val move into the manse and I didn’t really feel anything about the place, I only really felt tired and I was worried that I wasn’t ready to move into a new place or even to leave the city… but today was a whole lot different :)
Me and Nev took down a car full of our stuff and bought some bits and pieces for the kitchen. Then we swam down the motor way (rain!) and went to see Nevin’s brothers new house which as it happens is only 15 minutes from the new cottage, it really is a small world.
Glenn’s house is really nice and is pretty close to most of the local amenities including a really nice garden centre where we had lunch, god that makes me sound old :p then we drove Glenn to the cottage and we unloaded the car and had a potter about talking about or plans for the place.
After Glenn left I set up the kitchen stuff and Nev set up the living room. While I was putting together the kitchen I wrote a list as long as my arm of things I want and need for cooking, baking and cleaning. I couldn’t help but think that it’s all going to get a bit pricey BUT I was also caught up by how much fun it’s going to be to entertain in that kitchen and to cook big family meals and have Christmas round the wood burning stove… which we also still need to buy…. need more money :/
I am now very excited about living in the country, or more specifically, living in the cottage :)
Next time on the blog, pictures of the cottage :)
So its the last day of my little jaunt around france. I made all my holiday errors yesterday and woke up hung over, burnt and toooooo sleepy… never the less I choked back the tears and got in the car and we dropped one of our party at the air port as she is off to her graduation ball, in a stunning dress that I managed to alter last night after having been drinking for nigh on 7 hours, winning! But yes the day was devoted to drinking and chatting which was nice. Today my and my man spent the morning in rennes which is a beautiful city with alot of very cool shops and little places to eat. I treated myself to a tshirt with mokunas face on it, he’s a cute wee interdimentional bunny cat thing, uber cute. I think the plan is to head to ludeac later for dinner and then packing and cleaning, so I had better get right on that :) i’ll post one final france blog at some point tomorrow and from there on out I will be launching my city boy lost in the country ( working title) blog :) fun fun fun x
If you are ever in britany (spelling?) Then you have to visit vannes, its a lovely old city with a walled garden and lots of pretty little shops. We wandered the city for a few hours and then met at the docks and had dinner in a beautiful restaurant called la gammbetta I had the a dish named after the resteraunt and it was the richest creamyest plate of yum I have had in a while. Then we drove back to the house in the party car which consisted of singing along to various songs loudly and badly, highlights included a fully arm choreographed alone by celine dion and eminems guess who’s back, hilarious. Then I decided to check my email before having a drink, the drink ended up being champagne because it just so happens that I was awarded an upper second class degree from my university :) woop! After many congratulations and well wishes we all turned in early in preperation for a boozy day as a member of our party that I have grown immensely fond of is leaving tomorrow :( well, today is drinking and tanning and maybe some games, if you’ll excuse me its beer o’clock :)
A slow start yesterday that lead up to a very funny evening. My usual relaxation routine of pool, games and reading for the morning followed by a jaunt into a nearby town to pick up a snack and some cigarettes from the tabac. Then we all sat down together for a huge meal which was so large that it will also be lunch today. Then everything went a wee bit holiday camp with some games like killer and french boules which was great. Then we sat in the dining room and played a few games of whist which I picked up quickly but i’ll probably need to play a few more times before I get any good at it. Then as per usual tne effects of the drinks I had been having became apparent and I had to bow out around 1. Today we have planned to go to a lake that offers kayaking and other outdoor activities, if I don’t drown i’ll see you tomorrow :)
